These 10 rules of generous design are, by far, the most enduring body of work I’ve written. They emerged during a period of significant personal and professional change, and I find myself returning to them again and again—as principles, prompts, and quiet provocations.
Now printed in black and white, and limited-edition one-off gradients.
Talking to a few printers, hoping to be able to photograph the printing process, like with Edits by Edit https://design.byed.it/Edits-by-Edit
The holiday window pushed printing to January 20. We’ll be printing again with the same printer at Edits by Edit. I’m grateful for the strength of weak ties — and for practitioners who stay with the work over the long run.
Powerhouse Arts and the team were amazing. I worked with Luther before when they were at Atlantic, so it was wonderful to reconnect and spend time with the building and facilities. Alan Tansey came by to document the process, and we’ll be creating an additional artifact that reflects the work as being *in process*.
These 10 rules of generous design have been, by far, the most evergreen collection of words I have ever written. This came together in a time of great change, and I keep going back to it.
I would love to print these as A1, my favorite poster format, as a limited edition.
